Stem cell procedures for foot & ankle injuries
Non-surgical, image-guided treatment for ankle arthritis, sprains, instability, Achilles injuries, plantar fasciitis and more.
Foot & Ankle pain
Pain in the foot or ankle can make every step difficult
Walking long distances, standing for work, climbing stairs, or exercising may trigger discomfort that disrupts daily life. Athletes and active individuals often find that ankle instability or recurring injuries keep them from performing at their best.
Regenerative treatments use your body’s own healing cells to stimulate repair. With precise, image-guided injections, these therapies deliver growth factors and regenerative cells directly into the damaged area with the goal of reducing pain, restoring strength, and improving stability.

Foot & Ankle procedures at RegenOrthoSport
Primary treatment
Stem cell therapy (BMAC)
Stem cells and growth factors harvested from your bone marrow are injected into the injured region to promote regeneration of cartilage, ligaments, and tendons.
Each treatment is performed by Dr. Venkatesh Movva with ultrasound or X-ray guidance to ensure accurate placement.
Before surgery or steroids
Why consider regenerative injections first?
For ankle and foot pain, steroid injections may temporarily reduce inflammation but can weaken tissue with repeated use. Surgery, such as ligament reconstruction or tendon repair, can be helpful in certain cases but often involves long recovery times and potential complications.
In contrast, regenerative injections are minimally invasive and designed to promote natural healing. For many patients, these procedures may help improve stability, reduce pain, and restore mobility, potentially delaying or avoiding the need for surgery.
Recovery timeline
What to expect after treatment
All patients go home the same day. Mild soreness at the bone marrow collection site and injection areas is common for several days, as the healing process begins with a natural inflammatory response.
-
First few days
Mild soreness or stiffness is typical.
-
Weeks 2–6
Gradual improvement in pain, mobility, and daily function.
-
Months 2–6
Continued healing as stem cells and growth factors support tissue repair.

Am I a candidate for regenerative orthopedic treatment?
Candidates are typically individuals seeking non-surgical options for joint pain, sports injuries, tendon or ligament damage, or degenerative orthopedic conditions. Your physician will determine whether regenerative treatment is appropriate based on your diagnosis, imaging findings, and overall health.
What is recovery like after treatment?
Recovery is typically much shorter than traditional orthopedic surgery. All patients go home the same day and gradually resume normal daily activities based on their physician's recommendations and individualized rehabilitation plan.
Can I return to sports or exercise after the treatment?
Return to sports depends on your diagnosis, the procedure performed, and your body's healing response. Our team develops individualized recovery plans designed to help patients safely return to their desired activities as healing progresses.
How long before I notice improvement?
Healing is a gradual biological process. Some patients begin noticing improvement within several weeks, while others continue to experience progress over several months as damaged tissues respond to regenerative treatment.
